Tiramisu Cup for my Valentine!

I can't believe how fast time goes. From blogging my first recipe in April 2009 to my 100th recipe in May 2013, today I am posting my 200th recipe. A great achievement! I have enjoyed each and every part of this journey. In March 2009 when my sister signed me up and published the first glossary page, I had no idea of what a blog is! Typing a recipe was super boring and on top of it I did not know what an HTML version was! :)

Today, it is a special day. It is also our wedding anniversary! It is true, time flies! So much fun to celebrate back to back with my valentine. Also, look what I found! Our first shopping together before we got married. A cute set of heart shaped cup and saucer :) This was never used, and now was just lying packed in storage. Yes, I unpacked them to serve Snehanshu's favorite dessert, Tiramisu!

Ingredients to set 2 cups:
2 tbsp. Marsala or Port wine

1/2 cup whipping cream
2 tbsp. powdered sugar
1/2 cup cream cheese
1 tbsp. instant coffee
Sponge cake or angel food cake
1 tsp. chocolate powder.

Start with a good quality Marsala or Port wine. Microwave 2 tbsp. of wine with 1 tbsp. sugar for a minute till it boils. Cool completely.

Mix wine and cheese :) Whip 1/2 cup cream cheese with wine syrup to form a soft fluffy mixture.
Add whipped cream mixture and gently fold in to obtain a light and fluffy mix.
Keep over ice water to to prevent cream from melting.
Heat 1/2 cup water with 1 tbsp. sugar. Add 1 tbsp. instant coffee. Mix well and keep the coffee mixture aside.
To set in cups.
Use slice cake, pound cake, angel food cake, lady fingers, or your choice of cake as a base.

Since the cup in not a perfect round or squared shaped, I used small pieces of my eggless cake to crumble and form base of this dessert.
Sprinkle 2 tsp. of coffee syrup over the cake.
Spread 2 tbsp of cream cheese mixture and spread it evenly. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to set the cheese filling well before you start adding next layer.
Repeat to form a another layer.
Sprinkle some chocolate. Refrigerate to set!

Hunt for your favorite cup hiding in your attic and create a decadent dessert for your loved one.
